I'm Kelly, and we are at the Center for Community Service. I have students tell me all the time that Marquette's commitment to service and community here in our city of Milwaukee is a big part of why they chose to come to Marquette and be part of our community here. Marquette is located right in the heart of downtown Milwaukee, and I really encourage our students to, whether you've lived here for your whole life or are coming to Milwaukee for the first time, to really think of yourself as a neighbor, as a thread and a part of the network of this incredible city.
Hello, everyone. My name is Valeria Navarro [inaudible]. I am a support staff to the Center for Community Service. I'm always delighted to be in assistance to any and all students who are doing community service within and our surrounding neighborhoods at Marquette University. I think community service is very important, as it helps us build relationships with our neighbors and foster a sense of community.
Hi, I'm Allie. I'm a junior at Morgan, and I work in the Center for Community Service on hunger, cleanup, and advising. Something that I think is really unique about Marquette and Milwaukee is that we have so many different, continuous semester-long and year-long service programs that you can get involved with.
Hi, everyone. This is Sesi, and I'm the coordinator for community service. I'm excited to share, learn, and explore everything about Milwaukee with you. Milwaukee is a site for investment and love, and through service, I'm excited to create flexible systems that work for everyone. See you soon.
Hi, Marquette. I'm Leila. I'm a sophomore, and I write the newsletter for the Center for Community service. I think that community is super important in a time like this because it's a reminder that we're not alone. We have support. We are loved. So reach out to your friends, your family, and your chosen family in a time like this because we all need each other.
I want you to note that you are someone that cares about a better world, in whatever way that looks like, whether it's passion for the environment, for educational equity, for housing security, food security, racial justice, that there is a home for you here.
